Świnoujście in brief

Beach area – 35 ha. Area of white dune – 12,5 ha. Area of greens in the dune belt – 62 ha. The natural scenery of the seaside district originated as a result of the receding movement of the sea which causes the increase of coastline and dunes. The action of the sea and winds resulted in the belt-like lie of the area. The rate of land increase is estimated at ca. 1.5 m annually. The dune reaches ca. 8 m above sea level in its highest point, and ca. 1.0-2.0 m above sea level at the lowest. The vegetation, covering the area in a belt-like manner, is characteristic of seaside areas.

With considerable amount of vegetation, good location in relation to the sea-port area and frequent winds from the west, the air in Świnoujście and in the seaside district in particular, is clean. For about 100 years it has also been used for treatment purposes, thus making Świnoujście one of the most famous health resorts.
